Home care runs on visits. A caregiver shows up to a client’s address, works a shift, drives to the next one. If you can’t verify the visit started on time, ended on time, and happened at the right address, you can’t bill confidently, pay accurately, or sleep at night. ClockOut is built for that.
Where home care agencies leak money and trust
- Unverified visits. Did the caregiver actually arrive at 9:00 AM? Or 9:25? Without GPS, you have only their word.
- Paper visit logs. Lost, smudged, filled in from memory — and unbillable if the family disputes hours.
- Overtime surprises. Two caregivers, three clients, six visits a week — manual OT calculation is where mistakes get expensive.
- Mileage shrinkage. Caregivers undercount because they forgot, or overcount because they guessed. Either way, you lose.
What ClockOut does for home care agencies
GPS-verified visit clock-in
Caregiver opens the app at the client’s door, taps clock in. We capture GPS coordinates and verify they’re inside the geofence you set for that client address. The visit log is court-admissible.
Per-client time allocation
Each visit is tagged to a specific client automatically. End of week, you get a clean breakdown: hours per client, ready for billing.
Mileage between visits
Available on Pro. Caregivers tap “start drive” when they leave one client and “end drive” on arrival at the next. We log distance from the GPS track. Reimburse the right amount, no spreadsheet wrangling.
Automatic overtime and break compliance
Federal FLSA weekly OT works automatically. State-specific caregiver rules (California daily OT, NY home-care 13-hour live-in rule notes) get flagged. Missed meal breaks show up in the exception inbox before payroll.
Caregiver-friendly mobile app
Big buttons. Minimal logins. Works offline — caregivers don’t need cell service inside an assisted-living building to clock in. The shift syncs when service returns.

FAQ
Is ClockOut EVV-compliant?
ClockOut captures the four data points Medicaid EVV requires: who, where (GPS), when (timestamps), and service type. If you bill Medicaid and need direct EVV aggregator integration, contact us — that work is on the roadmap. For private-pay agencies, the verified visit log is already what you need.
Can caregivers clock in without cell service?
Yes. The app caches the clock-in and GPS coordinates locally. When the phone gets signal, it syncs. The timestamp and location are from the moment of clock-in, not the sync.
How does mileage tracking work?
On the Pro plan, caregivers tap “start drive” when leaving one visit and “end drive” on arrival at the next. ClockOut calculates the distance from the GPS track and adds it to the timesheet for reimbursement.
What if a caregiver doesn't own a smartphone?
Use kiosk mode: provide a low-cost tablet at the agency office for shift sign-in/out at start and end of day. For mid-day GPS visit verification, a phone is needed. Most caregivers have one — we’ve found resistance is rare once they see the app.
Does it handle live-in or 24-hour shifts?
Yes. Long shifts are supported. You can configure sleep hours and meal-break deductions per shift type. Overtime rules vary by state for live-in workers — Pro includes the compliance engine to handle those.
What does it cost for a 15-caregiver agency?
$45/month on Starter, $75/month on Pro (adds compliance engine and mileage). See pricing.
